Environmental Efficiency
Las Vegas Monorail carries nearly 5 million people every year. Additionally, the Monorail carries an average of 67,000 passengers during citywide trade shows, which would equal 22,334 taxi trips per show.
The Las Vegas Monorail system is 100 percent electric and runs zero-emission trains, reducing emissions by more than 27 tons and more than 2 million vehicle miles annually in Southern Nevada! The Monorail uses regenerative braking, which works by storing excess energy that accumulates when train cars are slowed, saving up to 20 percent of the system’s energy.
Annually, the Las Vegas Monorail improves our environment by eliminating an estimated 2.1 million vehicle miles from Southern Nevada’s major roadways. 2.1 million miles is equal to more than 9 trips to the moon.
